The development of new drugs in the field of Gender-related Medicine by Pantarhei Bioscience includes female and male applications.
Pantarhei Bioscience develops new treatment concepts in the area of Reproductive Medicine (RM) such as in contraception, infertility and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) both in females and males. In addition, Pantarhei addresses the more extended area of Gender-related Medicine by developing new drugs for osteoporosis, Hormone Dependent Disorders (HDD's) such as breast and prostate cancer, and in general gynaecology such as ovarian cancer, HIV transmission, female sexual dysfunction and Meconium Aspiration Sydrome (MAS). Other gender-related diseases of interest to Pantarhei Bioscience are cardiovascular diseases, auto-immune diseases and disorders of the Central Nervous System (CNS) such as depression.
The most advanced project at Pantarhei Bioscience is a new oral contraceptive concept in phase III of clinical development. Major progress is made in the development of the lead compound estetrol (E4). This natural human fetal steroid, that has never been considered for human use before, is in phase IIA of clinical development and has several possible applications such as the treatment of breast and prostate cancer, auto-immune diseases, osteoporosis and contraception.
