Pantarhei Bioscience focuses on the field of gender-related diseases because the company is equipped with the necessary tools (employees, know-how, network etc.) to acquire new patent possibilities and judge the feasibility of new projects in this area. Pantarhei Bioscience has several projects that fall into this category:

• The treatment of auto-immune diseases with estetrol.
  
• The treatment of cardiovascular diseases with estetrol.
  
  Other diseases:
• Improvement of efficacy of antidepressants by neurotonin (ENSPYR).
  Three animal studies have been performed to study the ENSPYR concept that a high dose of neurotonin may improve the efficacy of SSRI's as anti-depressants. In the human the objective is to achieve clinical advantages such as faster onset of action (up to several weeks with presently available SSRI's), higher responder rates (approximately 70% now) and a lower relapse rate of depression during treatment. Additionally, the dose of SSRI's might be decreased when combined with neurotonin, which could result in a decrease of the incidence of side effects of SSRI's.
